Here are the top stories in Essex-Chester-Deep River today:

  1. Are you ready for Deep River Day on Saturday? Come and join the fun! The day will start with a 5K run/walk at 9am and then “head to Marvin Field, the Deep River Historical Society, Downtown Deep River and the Library for lots of fun! Most activities will take place between business hours 10am – 2pm” The popular pet show will take place At 1:30pm on Main Street, right on Union and back on Church Street, the final concert (Righteous Continental) will be in downtown Deep River at the former Citizen’s Hotel. Bank parking lot at 2:15 p.m. Later in the evening, fireworks will be held at Plattwood Park later in the evening. We hope to see you there! (Deep River Parks and Rec via Facebook)
  2. The Connecticut Department of Transportation will hold three upcoming informational meetings to discuss the Eastern Connecticut Rail and Transit Feasibility Study.
