An upscale Japanese restaurant is set to open in Woodforest
MONTGOMERY, Texas — An upscale sushi restaurant is coming to Pine Market in Woodforest next year serving internationally sourced fish and upscale Japanese dishes.
Japanese restaurant Ten Zen is scheduled to open in January 2024. The menu will feature fresh sushi and sashimi with fish from countries such as Scotland and Japan. Japanese and American Wagyu beef will also be served, as well as steak and seafood dishes.
A selection of fine sake and Japanese whiskeys and an extensive wine list are available.
The interior of the 4,200-square-foot restaurant was specially designed in China, said Wei Weng, the restaurant’s owner.
“Everything about this restaurant is very special,” Wong said. “The party room, sushi bar and drinks bar are not like other types of restaurants. They are very upscale, elegant and make people feel relaxed while they are there.”
This will be the third restaurant Weng has opened in The Woodlands. Ten Zen is the realization of a dream.
“These two restaurants are small, which limited me,” he said. “I told myself I would open a fine dining restaurant one day. I knew I could do it. I just needed to wait for the right time and find the right place.
The correct place was Woodforest.
“I love the Woodforest area,” Wong said. “Lots of trees and fresh air. The people who live here are nice to each other. It is a good choice for living and retirement. I have a lot of good people willing to support me and help me achieve this. That’s why I chose the Woodforest area for my new restaurant.
Wong immigrated from China to the United States in 1992. He began working in the restaurant industry starting as a dishwasher and working his way up to becoming a manager. Most of his 30 years of experience has been in Japanese restaurants. He reads, writes, and speaks Japanese.
“I know Japanese culture,” he said. “I have visited all over the country, and tried all the good foods. Later I will teach my staff how to cook and serve our guests, so that they do not have to leave the country to enjoy real Japanese food.
Wong said he wants customers to know that his team will do their best to provide good food and a good dining experience.
“My kitchen is your kitchen,” Wong said. “Just tell us how you want your food, and my talented team will make it happen, so you don’t need to go to other restaurants. We are more than just customers and restaurant staff, we are family.”
Pine’s Market is located at 791 Fish Creek Road in Montgomery. The 40-acre retail center is located in Harvest Market and features more than 30 businesses, including Luv Coffee, Clean Juice, Grab N Go Tacos, Bespoke Cigar Lounge and Diva Boutique.
