A long-awaited butcher shop, fair trade and sustainable farm-to-table shop has opened its doors alongside the Cohasset 3A corridor. Founded by a third-generation cattle industry expert, Rosangela Teodoro is at the helm of the Teodora’s Boucherie Gourmande operation. Rosângela grew up in Brazil, learning the trade from her father, who ran a successful beef cattle farm in South America.

For meat and seafood lovers, Teodora’s Boucherie Gourmande is located next to Mullaney’s Fish Market, creating “Gourmet Row” in Cohasset. The butcher shop focuses on high-quality meat that is sustainably sourced with ethical standards in mind; It features grass-fed, grass-fed beef and curated meat packages for special events, a tasting corner and educational events. And customers are raving. From the highly desirable marbled American Wagyu steak, to homemade meatballs, to hand-ground burgers, to Denver steaks, there’s a buzz for meat lovers.

Wearing a distinctive purple rancher hat, Rosangela smiles warmly and greets customers. Her pride radiates. Rosangela’s knowledge and experience growing up on her father’s cattle ranch is the backbone of her expertise and adds to her impressive background and story. She witnessed her father instill important messages about fair trade, grass-fed, and the humane treatment of animals. “I am very excited and appreciative to be opening my doors in South Beach. Not only am I dedicated to offering thoughtfully sourced meat and premium varieties, but my long-term goal is to purchase a farm in New England to raise my own cattle in honor of my father who taught me so much about The art of butchery and how to do it. To take care of the animals,” reflects Rosangela.

The space is large and airy, with an original glass counter displaying hand-cut meats. The case displays prized wagyu, hand-ground burgers, ribs, brisket, rack of lamb, chicken breasts, hand-cut bacon, sausages, and pork.

Another glass case prominently displays wheels of Italian cheese, truffles, and dried gourmet mushrooms, such as chanterelles, maitake, hen of the woods, and candy cap; Another refrigerated rack section holds easy-to-use items, such as vegetables, whole chickens and larger meats.

Maintaining relationships with other farmers and butchers is central to Rosangela’s mission. Teodora’s Boucherie Gourmande recently welcomed renowned butcher TC Turner (aka Red Beard Butcher) from Team USA Butchers of America to lend his expertise during the opening days of the new store. During our first visit, we had the pleasure of meeting TC in the store, whose passion for meat is infectious. He helped us order our brisket main, hand carving while we waited, explained the new deli section, and the unique hand-crusted burger with blue cheese, pepper and black garlic umami, which we of course had to purchase.

We had a delicious brisket dinner. We cooked a four-and-a-half-pound prime brisket for three hours, following the One Table Cohasset recipe written and shared by Louisa Casdon, and the results were a comforting meal that was tender, sweet, and tangy. Our burger was also flavorful and flavorful, with flecks of black pepper, the essence of creamy blue cheese, a lingering umami flavor and a hint of sweet black garlic that was perfect on a toasted brioche roll.
