Where does one run when they need a break from stress? No vehicle or app will be able to navigate to a destination labeled “Relax and Reset.” However, you can move to the beautiful Hill Country to stay at the newly renovated Hyatt Regency Hill Country. Nestled in the middle of the tranquil Texas Hill Country, our visit was to be the perfect getaway for some alone time.

As we approached the majestic Hyatt Regency Hill Country, the Texas sun was setting on the sprawling 300-acre property. Towering oaks lined the path to the entrance, and we looked around to watch for deer roaming the area before dark.

Check-in was very easy, thanks to the attentive and friendly staff who made us feel like VIPs. We were given a map of the resort, and as we made our way to our suite, we enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere.

Our room was a haven of comfort with plenty of space. The suite is 599 square feet. The renovation has transformed it into a haven of modern luxury, featuring a comfortable king-size bed, a 65-inch HD Smart TV, a spacious bathroom with a rain shower, and a private balcony surrounded by large oak trees.

The room’s design features earthy tones and Texas farmhouse-inspired decor that exudes warmth and charm. Our suite gave us plenty of space to stretch out, from the large dining table to the comfy sofa, but the balcony was the perfect place to sip our morning coffee.

Exhausted by the five-hour drive to the resort, we decided to order a pizza from a local restaurant and continue working. But, with five different on-site restaurants and a gift shop, there are plenty of options for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a snack on your way to the golf course.

If time had permitted, we would have booked a visit to Windflower – The Hill Country Spa. There’s nothing like a rejuvenating spa treatment that leaves you feeling pampered and completely refreshed. However, while we left DFW behind, we couldn’t escape work. So, we spent the afternoon working on the paper while looking to make dinner reservations at Antlers Lodge, the resort’s fine dining restaurant.

We sat by the window with a view of the golf course, and our server, Melissa, welcomed us with a warm smile. The menu was a delightful mix of Texas flavors featuring wild game such as wild boar meatballs and a wild charcuterie board.

For our main course, I enjoyed the Bison Filet Mignon Oscar, a perfectly cooked masterpiece of meat topped with lobster and béarnaise sauce, while my husband enjoyed the bone-in ribeye, cooked to perfection. Melissa’s attentive service and recommendations added a personal touch to our dining experience.

To end our culinary journey on a sweet note, we indulged in a delicious toffee pudding. Each bite was the perfect combination of rich toffee and moist cake, a dessert that left a lasting impression.

As we walked back to our room along the winding hallways after dinner, we saw a few families in the Fire Pit Pavillion, grilling s’mores over a roaring fire. I’m not sure who among us said “we should bring the kids,” but it’s clear that the Hyatt Regency Hill Country isn’t just a getaway for adults; It is also a paradise for families. While we visited on a Wednesday and Thursday evening, there were more adults on the Ramblin’ River, a lazy river that meanders through the resort grounds, than children enjoying a leisurely float. I’m sure by the end of the week it was full of kids and their parents, laughing and making memories.

While the Hyatt Regency Hill Country provides the perfect setting to relax and enjoy the Hill Country, the location is also ideal for anyone wanting to visit SeaWorld or explore more of San Antonio. The resort was the perfect place to escape our kids and dogs for a few nights and reconnect.

The Hyatt Regency Hill Country hosted our stay. We’ve shared our thoughts based on our personal experience during our recent visit.
