Frozen strawberry hacks you’ll love

What is it about dried fruits that is most ridiculous? They last a long time, about a year, which is certainly much longer than fresh fruit. They also make great snacks. Although strawberries contain natural sugars, as do all fruits, they are relatively low in sugar, and because they are a low glycemic index food, they prevent high blood sugar and insulin levels. Did you know that you can not only dry these beautiful berries at home, but you can also do it with frozen as well as fresh strawberries?

Since you want dried strawberry chips, it’s best to use frozen slices instead of the whole fruit. If you don’t have a dehydrator, you can use an oven instead. Set the temperature to the lowest possible level and add a layer of frozen strawberry slices to a greased baking tray. Cover it with some parchment paper and put it in the oven to dry for two hours. Flip each slice over, then place the tray back in the heat for another 30 minutes. If it’s not crispy enough, warm it longer, but keep checking it every quarter hour or so so it doesn’t burn. In a dehydrator set at 125 degrees F, you can dry frozen strawberry slices for anywhere from eight to 48 hours. You can rehydrate the crunchy fruit in warm or cold water.
