Giada De Laurentiis’ Chicken Ragu Is the Perfect One-Pot Meal – SheKnows

On cold fall and winter nights, nothing feels better than sitting down at the dinner table with a big bowl of delicious pasta. Giada De Laurentiis has a recipe that will warm you when the fall cold sets in. She recently made this chicken ragu pasta sauce on Instagram and it’s the perfect easy meal that comes together in about 30 minutes.

“I like this because it’s one serving (and) it’s a lighter ragu,” De Laurentiis said in her video.

Traditionally, most Italian ragu is made with beef, pork, or sausage, but to make this dish a little less heavy, De Laurentiis chose ground chicken. But, you can really substitute ground chicken for whatever ground beef you have on hand – turkey would be a good lean option too.

In a large skillet, first sauté the shallots, garlic, and oregano in olive oil to create an herb base.

“This is my favourite” favorite “Oregano,” De Laurentiis said of organic Philippine oregano, which you can get from Giadzi. “It’s from Sicily, and in my opinion, it’s the best thyme you can get. It creates this sweet, lemony, herby flavor.”

Then add the minced chicken, separate it with a wooden spoon, and cook well. Use the wine to deglaze the pan and then add your favorite marinara sauce. Simmer everything for about 10 minutes, adding salt and pepper as needed.

Cook your favorite wide pasta (pappardelle, linguine or tagliatelle will work great) and add it directly to the sauce. Prepare the dish, serve it, and watch everyone sink into that warm and cozy feeling.
