Although this may sound too good to be true, influencer Jess has given Nigella Lawson a run for her money with this festive meal.

On her Tiktok channel @weighlesswith_jess, she shared her festive go-to meal food – pigs in blankets carbonara – yes, you read that right!

At just 651 calories and over 39g of protein, this is a must-have for anyone wanting a healthier alternative after eating endless amounts of chocolate on Christmas Day.

Even better, it uses just five ingredients to serve two people, most of which you’ll already have in your house this holiday season.

Alternatively, you can raid your local supermarket for heavily discounted items then boxing day.

To start, you’ll only need 50g of Parmesan or any finely grated cheese of your choice.

Combine this with three eggs and a generous amount of black pepper, then mix with a fork to make sure there are no lumps.

After you’re done, you can prepare the rest of this delicious meal.

If you’re not familiar with orzo, it’s a type of pasta that looks almost like rice and can be cooked in just five minutes.

Simply fill a pot with salted water and 130 grams of orzo, then boil according to the package instructions.

For those who don’t have this ingredient lurking in their cupboards, you can also substitute it with any pasta you already have at home — just make a note of the cooking time.

While it’s heating, you can fry 70g of bacon bits in a pan – making sure they’re extra crispy.

You can also warm your pigs in blankets, ready to be combined with the bacon, Parmesan mixture, and orzo – which should be cooked and drained.

Reserve the pasta water and add a little as you stir it around in the pan, which should start to resemble classic carbonara.

You are now ready to serve the dish in two large bowls with more grated cheese and some parsley, to make it even more delicious during the holiday season.

It’s no surprise that Jess’s fans are excited about the Christmas meal and how easy it is to cook.

One wrote: “Orzo carbonara is an underrated dish to be honest, I love making carbonara with mini pasta.”

“Oh, I’m literally making something similar now,” another wrote, adding that they had put a twist on the simple dish: “About to eat a load of ripe brie.”

A third joked: “You’re killing me with this one.” Recipes“.
