My First Date Pesto works on men every time

Perhaps our grandmothers taught us that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. I don’t know about this. But I know the way to the man (you know what) and this pesto recipe helped me get there.

Growing up, I wasn’t much of a cook – because I never learned. When I finally moved out on my own (rather late because the writing lifestyle doesn’t lead to immediate economic security), almost the first thing I wanted to do was invite my best friend over for dinner. I wanted the kind of dish where I could throw a bunch of ingredients together, not care too much about measuring or ovens, and have him leave with a smile on his face.

Mine was pesto, which I loved. We had a really delicious night to follow too. The same has been true anytime I’ve done it for a guy since. I’ve shared my recipe with my friends – those who have tried it tend to agree.

Even if you’re not a kitchen goddess, you can make pesto. All you need is a food processor or blender to get started.

The first date pesto that works on men every time:

1 large bunch of basil, leaves only, washed and dried:

Be generous here. Obviously, basil is the most important ingredient in pesto. You’d be a pest without it. But basil actually also has a long history as an aphrodisiac. Italians — who obviously have a lot more love and intimacy in their lives than we do — call sweet basil “kiss me nicolas” or “kiss me nicolas.” They left it on their windowsill as a symbolic “come hither” for their lovers!

Basil has been seen as an aphrodisiac since ancient times, so pile on it.

3 medium cloves of garlic:

I know what you’re thinking – garlic on a first date? Doesn’t that automatically rule out kissing? no. First, if you both eat garlic, it cancels out the other. But more importantly, the heat of garlic is known to arouse more than just a bowl of pesto, it arouses your libido. Garlic also contains allicin, which is thought to increase blood flow to certain organs.
