SCC Employee Appreciation Day dates back to the 1980s

The Sierra Conservation Center (SCC) hosted an Employee Appreciation Day in early October as a way to thank employees for their ongoing contributions to fulfilling CDCR’s mission.

This event is sponsored by management, the non-profit Employee and Community Benefit Association (ECBA) and several employee organizations such as:

  • Correctional Peace Officers Association (CCPOA)
  • California Correctional Supervisors Organization (CCSO)
  • and Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1000.

Food was cooked on and off site by members of the management team and served to staff during all three hours.

The department hosted numerous activities including a live band, car show, dunk tank, cornhole tournament, 1980s trivia game, the Sour Challenge presented by ISUDT, as well as baking and salsa contests.

The food consists of tri-tip sandwiches, chicken thighs, chili beans, pasta, side salad, desserts and various drinks. The staff ate, talked, laughed and enjoyed a day dedicated to them taking them back to the 1980s.
