The manager of a Domino’s restaurant in Smethwick has created a new pizza in tribute to his Indian heritage, and it is now being rolled out in stores across the UK and Ireland. Chandandeep Singh’s The Ultimate Spicy Meatball is “unlike anything they’ve done before” says the creator, offering an “explosion of flavours” that celebrate his Indian background.

Chandandeep, a senior store manager who worked in Solihull before moving to Smethwick where he lives, made the pizza as part of Domino’s DomiChef competition. The competition challenged employees from across the company to create their own recipes to put on the main menu. Chandandeep’s winning pizza will now be rolled out across the country.

The pizza is topped with pork balls, red onions and sliced jalapenos and comes with a spicy Sriracha drizzle, which Chandandeep says “fills the spice gap on Domino’s menu and is unlike anything they’ve done before.”

“Being Indian, I wanted to bring a piece of my heritage to the Domino’s menu,” he said. “My culture thrives on spices and I personally love adding fiery twists to the food experience at home, so the DomiChef competition was a great opportunity for me.”

“I wanted people to experience an explosion of flavors in their mouths, and that’s what The Ultimate Spicy Meatball did.

“It was a huge surprise to see my pizza shortlisted, let alone selected for launch in stores across the UK and Ireland. They’re classic ingredients that Domino’s fans know and love – but this combination will leave your taste buds craving more.”

The brand is currently recruiting for 5,000 jobs across Britain as part of a massive recruitment drive. The brand says more than 90 percent of its store managers started out as delivery drivers or pizza chefs, with some becoming franchise partners.

“There’s never a dull moment while working at Domino’s,” said Chandandeep. “The energy between team members is like nowhere else, and I love being part of a team where we all come together — and even more so during those busy moments as we have each other’s backs.”

“There is an opportunity to grow your career with a clear progression path from day one and with exciting initiatives like DomiChef.”

Nicola Frampton, Domino’s Pizza Group Chief Operating Officer, said: “After a very successful first six months, we expect huge demand in the second half of the year as we build momentum and head into our peak season.

“With the acceleration of new store openings and the success of the Domino’s app, we look forward to strengthening our talent pool with committed, hard-working individuals to meet growing demand. We can’t wait to welcome an additional 5,000 people to the Domino’s team.”
