I hope whoever came up with the idea of combining popcorn and movie watching knew what a huge impact it had on the movie theater experience. Movie theaters are practically incomplete without popcorn machines, and I can’t think of any time in my life when I’ve wanted popcorn more than I did while watching a movie. Designed to embody the beauty of this relationship, Dimexart, the creator of LEGO, decided to create the iconic movie theater popcorn machine. Synonymous with movie theaters, this popcorn machine is a standard fixture in any concession stand. Sure, we can make our own popcorn at home in Dutch ovens or microwaves, but there’s something different about the popcorn that comes from this machine. The machine comes with a rotating kettle inside a glass chamber. Thanks to the height-adjustable lid, the kettle continuously produces popcorn, which falls and immediately fills the glass chamber. It’s a hypnotic process so ingrained in everyone’s memories that looking at this LEGO toy might remind you of theaters and make you imagine the smell of butter!

Aside from building with LEGO bricks, Dimexart has also built a reputation for itself in almost faithfully recreating ancient machines from LEGO blocks. The antique cash register and antique toaster hold a special place on this site, and soon the popcorn machine will be a favorite too! The machine has been designed in all its retro glory and comes with a 955-piece build, although whether that includes LEGO popcorn is unknown. Yes, popcorn is made from LEGO bricks too, and each individual kernel comes out of the machine’s built-in kettle and slides down the ramp into the popcorn bucket.

You load the kettle by accessing it through a door at the back, and the M motor drives the rack-and-pinion mechanism, causing the LEGO beads to pop out and slide down into the bucket for you to eat later. Although the machine was originally designed for LEGO popcorn, you can theoretically fill it with actual snacks as well, like M&Ms and other hard candy, making it an interesting tool for spreading Halloween candy!

With over 5,000 votes, the Dimexart popcorn machine dominates the LEGO Ideas forum. If you collect 10,000 votes, the in-house LEGO team will turn it into a box set that all of us normal people can buy! You can cast your vote for the Dimexart popcorn machine here.
