Tips for New Year’s Eve desserts
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Looking for a quick and easy food item that’s sure to please at your New Year’s Eve gathering? Try making a charcuterie platter.
It can be as simple or as complex as you want, featuring everything from cubed cheese and slices of pepperoni to aged cheddar and cured meats.
But since we are talking about New Year’s Eve, it’s time to celebrate the New Year and have some joy around it. So let’s take the charcuterie plate up a notch and make something that not only looks amazing, but has a ton of flavor too.
When choosing cheeses, use a variety of options, and be sure to select cheeses that suit different flavors. Let’s say aged cheddar, smoked Gouda, creamy Havarti, and some brie.
Then choose a cut of meat, which could be either a package from the grocery store containing several different types of salami, or something exotic like smoked salmon.
Next, place some sweet fruits or jams on the tray as well, and be sure to include a condiment such as honey or spicy mustard; Don’t forget the crackers.
Of course, if you want to go the vegan route, there are many vegan cheeses on the market now, and pairing them with some fruit, spices, and crackers would make a great charcuterie board.
The key here is to enjoy what you’ve put together, reflect on it, and enjoy the time with your family and friends.
