Union Restaurant will open Sept. 26 in Eisenhower Park

The Union Hotel is located on the first floor of a historic building in Eisenhower Park, which was once home to The Carltun on the Park.


Trahanas Hospitality Group announced today that The Union, a restaurant serving modern American cuisine combined with an exciting full sushi bar and a rotating selection of seasonal specialty items, will open to the public on September 26, 2023. Diners can make reservations at The Union location Electronically or through Open Table.


“Union is this year’s most exciting entry into the Long Island dining scene,” said Elias Trahanas, co-founder of Trahanas Hospitality Group. “Combined with our banquet facilities, The Lannin, and our members-only lounge, The General, we offer three experiences under one roof that will excite and appeal to a wide range of diners from across the region.”


The Union is located on the first floor of a historic building in Eisenhower Park, formerly home to The Carltun on the Park, which underwent a $7 million renovation over the past year.


The 100-plus-seat dining room was designed and decorated by Dallago and Associates. Interspersed with vertical ovals tied to mimic the interior throughout the building, the walls are painted a deep olive color and complemented by brushed gold metal lighting fixtures. Oak-topped tables and beige leather chairs complement the white Mikasa China decor and sleek, modern silverware and glassware. The 20-seat, stone-topped bar is home to the sushi chef, who prepares a variety of selections to order.


Stepping out of the dining room, visitors can relax on the outdoor covered patio with a view of the Eisenhower Park Golf Course. The secondary dining room also overlooks the golf course, against a glass wall filled with selected bottles of wine.


The impressive menu has been created by Executive Chef Tom Gloucester, with presentation items from small plates and pizzas to salads, main courses and side dishes:


  • Small plates They include Korean barbecue wings, wagyu beef meatballs, shredded shishito peppers, or roasted beets.

  • Pizza They range from the Classic Margherita to the 329 Sunrise (with olives, tomatoes, spicy soppressata, feta and fresh oregano) and the Sunday Special (meatballs, ham braised with tomatoes, mozzarella and parsley).

  • authority Ranging from classic Caesar to Greek Chopped or Wedge with the option of adding chicken, shrimp, salmon or steak.

  • The main courses are a carnivore’s dream: slow-smoked ribs, steak sandwich, Double R Ranch steak, meatloaf, or roasted chicken.

  • sides Includes whipped potatoes, steak fries, roasted mushrooms and onions, creamed spinach, grilled asparagus, or broccoli. Macaroni and cheese can be elevated with lobster or truffle butter.


The full-service bar will serve mixed drinks, beer, wine and Japanese sake, as well as an extensive Scotch and bourbon menu. The wine is available by the glass and bottle, and is sourced from the North Fork of Long Island to California, France, Italy, South America and Spain.
