Watch: Chris Gayle smashes a one-handed six off Colin de Grandhomme in Legends League cricket

Opting to play at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association Stadium, Gujarat Giants restricted Manipal Tigers to 173-8. For Manipal, Hamilton Masakadza scored 37 in 18 balls, while Thisara Perera scored a 17-ball 32 as Rajat Bhatia finished 3-31.
Chris Gayle, 44, opened the batting with Jacques Kallis, and both men started from the start. Kallis cut in the fifth over, putting Mitchell McClenaghan away for four runs.
Colin de Grandhomme came in to play next. Gayle picked up two boundaries off the first five balls and a third off the sixth, which turned out to be a no-ball.
When De Grandhomme bowled a short free-kick, outside off stump, Gayle simply stood back and interceded for the pull. His front hand came off the bat during the stroke, but there was enough force for the ball to rise over the mid-wicket fence.
Gayle was eventually bowled by Imran Khan for a 24-ball 38. Gujarat slumped from 75-0 to 99-3, but Kallis and Parthiv Patel kept them in the hunt. In the second strategic timeout, they needed 26 off 24 balls with Kallis (54 in 38 balls) and Parthiv (32 in 21) at the crease.
