News of the new Pizza Hut at Tops Plaza on the South Side was announced earlier this year as part of an announcement from Yum! Brands that will open 10 new stores in Western New York.
While many brick-and-mortar Pizza Huts restaurants have closed across the country, the restaurant still operates more than 16,000 locations, many of which only offer take-out menu or take-out options only.

When will Almira Pizza Hut open?
The take-out restaurant is scheduled to open Tuesday, Nov. 15 next to Zoom Tan, barring any unforeseen circumstances, said Darcy Smith, senior director of marketing/management at franchisee Daland Corporation.
When did the other Pizza Hut in the area close?
Seventeen Pizza Huts, including locations in Elmira, Corning, Bath and Hornell, closed permanently in 2020. The company initially closed following restrictions imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic, but a local franchisee made the closures permanent.
At the time, a Pizza Hut spokesperson said it had plans to open new franchises in the area.
Among the restaurants affected at the time were locations at 55 E. Pulteney St. in Corning, 1151 Broadway in Elmira, 357 W. Morris St. in Bath, and 1000 State Route 36 in Hornell.
What will Almira Pizza Hut offer?
The location will offer delivery and carryout only, but will have an almost full menu, Smith said. Along with pizza, patrons can order pasta, wings, breadsticks, cheese sticks, desserts and drinks. It also features a car delivery service. The only staple item not available is sandwiches.
Are there other Pizza Hut locations in the Southern Tier or Northern Tier of Pennsylvania?
Before Pizza Hut returned to Elmira, the closest location offering the full menu was Mansfield, a 30-minute drive or so from parts of the Elmira area. Pizza Hut Express inside Target at Big Flats Commons has been the chain’s only appearance in the area since 2020. However, the Express locations are only offering select items, including personal cheese and pepperoni pizzas and small portions of breadsticks, pasta and bones. -In the wings.
